Enefit presents Algo – an automated management solution for solar and battery parks

Enefit has developed Algo, an active management software that allows companies with solar parks and energy storage technologies to participate in electricity balancing markets. The solution helps increase the profitability of parks and allows them to receive compensation even when the solar park is shut down.

"Based on our many years of experience, we have created a modern algorithm that uses the latest and most detailed forecasting models – the same ones we use to ensure maximum efficiency for our own production assets," says Krišs Prūsis, Enefit's Business Customer Relations Manager. "We can now offer this solution to our customers with production and storage capacities."

The software analyzes various variables: solar energy production volume, the company's own consumption, battery status, network operator tariffs, Nord Pool prices, and opportunities to operate in frequency maintenance/restoration markets. Based on this information, the software optimizes the operation of the solar park and battery and increases the owner's revenue.

"Algo uses meteorological data and forecasts specific to a given location to determine how weather conditions affect energy production," explains Prūsis. "This allows Algo to more accurately predict the production capacity of solar panels and more effectively manage battery usage," he adds.

Algo operates in all electricity and newly opened grid frequency stabilization markets, including the Nord Pool day-ahead market, as well as the FCR, aFRR, and mFRR frequency markets. The specific markets in which Algo participates depend on the technical parameters of the customer's assets, flexibility, and chosen strategy.

Algo can manage both battery and solar parks. The software can manage individual solar parks equipped with Huawei Smart Logger controllers and Huawei inverters with a capacity exceeding 300 kW.  In battery parks, Algo is compatible with Pixii, Solax, Huawei, Solis, Power Electronics, Sinexcel, InPower, and Kstar inverters. The compatibility of other inverters must be assessed individually. "Our goal is to continuously update the list of compatible inverters. We evaluate the compatibility of each inverter individually, based on specific technical parameters," added Krišs Prūsis. To ensure integration with Algo, it may be necessary to install a controller.

To use the management software to its full potential, you need an electricity contract with Enefit based on the exchange price. The cooperation is based on a revenue-sharing model – Enefit only earns money when the asset owner also makes a profit.
