Electricity Consumption and Bills
Submitting electricity meter readings
If you have a new smart electricity meter at home, you do not need to submit your readings, as they are automatically read remotely.
If you have a standard meter, you can submit your readings from the 27th day of the current month until the 3rd day of the following month. For example, March readings can be submitted from March 27th to April 3rd.
Standard meter readings must be submitted through the Sadales tīkls customer portal.

What makes up the total electricity bill?
The total electricity bill consists of several components, and the price of the electricity itself is only one part of it:
- Electricity price: The cost of the electricity you purchase from your provider. It depends on your chosen plan (Fixed, Dynamic/market-priced, or Seasonal).
- Electricity delivery (distribution tariff): The cost of delivering electricity to your home, which is set and provided by the country’s main distribution system operator, AS “Sadales tīkls.”
- AST balancing capacity maintenance: The fee for ensuring the stability of the electricity transmission system (you can follow current costs and tariffs on the AS "Augstsprieguma tīkls" website).
- Value Added Tax (VAT).
