Power outages and disruptions
What to Do If Your Home Loses Power?
If you have lost power in your home, there may be a technical fault in the connection. Please be reminded that AS "Sadales tīkls" is responsible for the physical electricity distribution system, its maintenance, and power outage resolution throughout Latvia.
What to do in the event of an unplanned power outage:
- Report the outage: In case of technical issues, report them by calling the "Sadales tīkls" 24/7 fault reporting hotline at 8404.
- Report the fault digitally: This can also be done quickly and conveniently on the "Sadales tīkls" website.

Important to Remember!
Power outages and faults can create highly dangerous situations. In such events, the following basic safety principles must be strictly observed:
- If You Smell Something Unusual - Turn Off the Power Immediately! If smoke or a strange, distinct odor is coming from any household appliance, wire, switch, or outlet, immediately turn off the electricity for the entire house (shut off the fuses/main switch). Under no circumstances should burning cables or electrical appliances be extinguished with water!
- In Case of Electrical Injury - Call 112 Immediately If an accident involving an electric shock occurs, always call the State Fire and Rescue Service immediately at 112 - even if the victim feels perfectly fine. Why this is critical: A person's health condition following an electrical shock can deteriorate rapidly and severely, even within the next 24 hours. Safety first: Never touch a person who is still in contact with electricity! Until the electrical circuit is broken, the victim remains energized. Safely turn off the power supply first.
- Stay Away from Fallen and Broken Power Lines! Fallen electrical wires are extremely life-threatening. Under no circumstances should you approach or touch wires lying on the ground. Do not touch or attempt to remove trees or branches that have fallen onto power lines. Because trees and branches naturally contain water, they conduct electricity excellently and can cause a fatal electric shock. If you notice broken wires or a tree fallen on a power line, report it immediately by calling the emergency hotline at 8404.
